Medical Disclaimer
Fit Travelling publishes general information about exercise, food, sleep and active travel. It is not medical advice and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, physical therapist, registered dietitian or other qualified professional who knows your situation.
Before you change your activity level
Talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise routine, a trek or an activity at altitude if you have a heart, lung or metabolic condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, a history of blood clots, a recent injury or operation, or if you are pregnant. The same applies if you take regular medication that could affect your heart rate, blood sugar, balance or hydration.
Stop and get help
Stop exercising and seek medical help if you have chest pain or pressure, severe or unusual breathlessness, fainting or near-fainting, sudden weakness or numbness, or a racing or irregular heartbeat. After a long journey, pain, swelling, warmth or redness in one leg, or sudden breathlessness, can be signs of a blood clot and need urgent medical attention. In an emergency, call the local emergency number.
Outdoor and destination information
Trail conditions, weather, access rules and permits change. Our destination guides describe places in general terms and are not route descriptions to rely on in the field. Check current conditions with the official park authority, local tourist office or a qualified guide, and turn back when conditions or your health call for it.
